A new era is beginning for Hungarian small and medium-sized enterprises in the field of green and digital transition. Under the GINOP Plusz-1.4.5-25 National Champions loan program, a grant of HUF 155.61 billion is available, co-financed by the European Union.
The program provides unique benefits: investments can be implemented partly from non-refundable grants (up to 30%) and partly from loans free of interest and bank charges. Financing can be requested between HUF 150-600 million, which means that the non-refundable grant can be up to HUF 180 million.
The program is specifically aimed at companies that can demonstrate a competitive advantage, have growth potential, or are able to expand in foreign markets. SMEs operating as suppliers or exporters can apply for the preferential loan, which employ at least five employees, have three completed business years, and their net sales in the previous business year exceeded HUF 100 million.
An important condition is that the loan product can only be used to finance investments in settlements outside Budapest, which helps regional development. Supported projects must include the purchase of equipment resulting in technological modernization at least 30 percent of the costs, as well as infocommunication development and/or renewable energy-related investment, also at a minimum of 30 percent.
The financing amount can be used in an extremely diverse way: for real estate construction, transformation, expansion, modernization, electric vehicle purchase, investment-related inventory purchase, and even experimental development. The projects have 24 months available for implementation, which can be extended by another 6 months in justified cases.
The novelty of the program is the one-stop service, which is available in a total of 175 designated branches of MFB Pont Plusz, MBH Bank, OTP Bank and Gránit Bank nationwide in the network serving corporate customers. Applications can be submitted until 31 December 2026 or until the loan program budget is exhausted.
This program is particularly important in terms of strengthening the competitiveness of the Hungarian economy, increasing the resilience of the economy and achieving sustainability aspirations. The joint support of the green and digital transition helps SMEs prepare for the challenges of the future and take advantage of the opportunities offered by new technologies.
