Making internal AI use mandatory

Microsoft has taken a radical step to increase AI adoption. Julia Liuson, president of the Developer Division, has instructed managers to include the use of internal AI tools in employee performance reviews.

Key changes:

• “Using AI is no longer optional,” Liuson stressed
• Using GitHub Copilot and other internal AI tools mandatory
• Formal metrics planned for next fiscal year
• The goal is to increase the use of internal AI tools and better understand products
• Microsoft AI chip delay

The production of Microsoft’s next-generation Maia AI chip is delayed by at least 6 months, to 2026.

This is a setback in Nvidia’s plan to reduce its dependence.
