A comprehensive international survey on the perception of artificial intelligence in Hungary reveals interesting contradictions. The Ipsos AI Monitor 2025 survey was conducted in 30 countries, with more than 23,000 people, and Hungary shows outstanding results in many areas.
The knowledge of the Hungarian population about AI is also outstanding at a European level: 75% of respondents say they understand what artificial intelligence is. This is significantly higher than the average of the 30 countries (67%), and a better result than that of Poland in the region. This shows that Hungarian society is open and receptive to new technologies.
The perception of artificial intelligence is fundamentally positive: 64% of Hungarians believe that AI has more advantages than disadvantages. Half of the population is excited about the development of AI, while 53% also have some concerns about the spread of the technology. This indicates a balanced attitude, which shows neither excessive optimism nor unjustified pessimism.
The assessment of trust issues is particularly interesting. While 55% of Hungarians trust that companies using AI will handle personal data appropriately (the highest figure in Europe), only 33% trust the government to regulate AI responsibly. This latter result places Hungary in third place out of 30 countries.
Regarding the impact on the labor market, 66% of Hungarians believe that AI will transform the way we work in the next 5 years, but only 29% fear losing their jobs. This shows that Hungarian society sees the changes brought by AI as an opportunity rather than a threat.
