International Marketing

Entering foreign markets? Localisation is the key to success: a website translation isn't enough — you need to adapt to cultural particularities and local search engines. Hungarian + international experience with direct Chinese-market connections.

  • Market entry strategy Deep market analysis: demand, competition, channel structure, regulation. Go-to-market roadmap for 12 months.
  • Localisation (not translation) Culturally adapted content: not literal but transferred to local context. Native-speaker editors for every target language.
  • Multilingual SEO Hreflang implementation with the right ccTLD or subdomain strategy. Per-language keyword research (German uses different phrasing than Hungarian). Local link building.
  • Cross-border PPC Google Ads + Meta cross-country campaigns. Separate currency handling, country-specific billing flow, EU-wide GDPR compliance.
  • Chinese market specialisation WeChat, Baidu, Xiaohongshu (Little Red Book), Douyin (Chinese TikTok) marketing. Sino-Hungarian business partnership consulting.
  • Local partnerships and influencer Polish, Czech, German and Chinese influencer connections. Identifying local wholesalers and resellers. PR in target markets.

Which markets do you support for expansion?

Primarily: DACH (Germany, Austria, Switzerland), CEE (Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Romania), BeNeLux and UK. Special: China (WeChat + Baidu + local partnerships). For global expansion (US, India, MENA) we work with partner agencies.

What's the difference between translation and localisation?

Translation = literal conversion (often starting with machine translation). Localisation = full adaptation including humour, references, visual elements (models, colours), payment methods, legal text. A "best in class" slogan that works in Hungarian may be grammatically wrong in German and culturally alien in Polish.

Do we need a new domain?

Two strategies: (1) ccTLD (country domain): alongside domain.hu, domain.de, domain.cz — best local SEO but expensive and complex. (2) Subdomain or subdirectory: de.domain.com or domain.com/de — simpler but weaker local ranking. We typically recommend subdomain/subdirectory up to the 2-3rd market, then ccTLD.

How long is the process?

Pilot market (1 new country): 4-12 weeks full localisation flow. Scaling to additional markets: 6-8 weeks per new market if pilot is successful. Whether company formation or local entity is needed: separate consulting, 3-6 months.

Can you help with Chinese market consulting?

Yes. Our founder Attila Győrfi is a guest lecturer at IBS Budapest, the University of Pécs Faculty of Business and Economics, and the University of Warsaw, and a Chinese market specialist. He's reachable on WeChat with our Chinese partners directly. WeChat marketing, Baidu SEO, Tmall/JD listings, Xiaohongshu (Little Red Book) influencer campaigns. For Chinese market entry we typically also bring a Hungarian-Chinese legal practitioner due to the regulatory aspect.

What does international expansion marketing cost?

Pilot country launch (DACH/CEE): one-off HUF 1.5-3M (≈ €3,750–7,500) (localisation + setup + first campaigns). Monthly management: HUF 400-900k (≈ €1,000–2,250) / country. Chinese market pilot: HUF 3-6M (≈ €7,500–15,000) (more complex regulatory side). Ad spend separate, typically HUF 300k-1.5M (≈ €750–3,750)/month per country depending on market size.
